For a period of about one year (October 1992 to November 1993), along with several other energetic and dedicated soldiers, I helped raise money, lobby Congress, and organize a campaign. We also participated in radio and television interviews and offered our personal stories to print media. Some news shows labeled us gay activists. Well, I submit that people still disagree bitterly about what it means to be . . . an "activist."
